Mens Underwear Styles – Enduring the Test of Time

Men! It’s time to tell it to you straight! If looking through your underwear drawer you are unable to determine the date of your last underwear purchase chances are it’s time to go shopping! In 2008, of the American men surveyed, 9% indicated they had a pair of underwear that was at least 10 years old or older. While this statistic is startling, it is scarier to imagine the tens of thousands of others who have underwear dating back more than 10 years.

Now that the “cat is out of the bag” it is worthwhile considering the psychological nature of underwear purchasing and why some men seem to avoid it. In defense of the many men who may share this resistance in separating themselves from their favorite pair of underwear, shopping for men’s undies has certainly changed in the past few years. For many men, finding the perfect pair of underwear has been a long road traveled. Truly, the discovery of the right form, fashion and fit has led to the repurchase of the same type of underwear time after time.

In the past few years, mens underwear has made major shifts in the fashion industry. No longer are the “tighty whities” the most proclaimed fashion choice in mens undergarments. Today, there are plenty of styles, colors and cuts to choose from. In fact, styles have become so bold, it is a shame that these garments are worn underneath. Whether you are a man who wears boxers, briefs or somewhere in between, knowing the right styles to choose from can make all the difference in making the shopping experience less daunting.

Mens Briefs

Proving ageless, men’s briefs have stood the test of time, generation after generation. This diehard style has been on the market for many decades and until recently has remained unchanged in its impact. First introduced to the market in 1935, the brief (also indicated as the jockey) offered a support to men similar to the jockstrap. Throughout the years, mens briefs have been largely viewed as a functional garment with little interest to fashionable style. Since the 70’s, mens briefs began to change from functional to sporty with different styles, colors and cuts.

In the past decade, we have seen a large change in mens fashion briefs with the introduction of new designers who have taken this once functional item and turned it into a fashionable statement for most men. Redesigned with bold patterns and styles, fashionable mens underwear is accepted by many different types of men who no longer associate their masculinity with what they wear underneath. Thankfully, our society has advanced enough so these styles are accepted by everyone.

Mens Boxer Briefs

Mens boxer briefs (also known as tight boxers) have become popular in the past two decades for men seeking a compromise between boxers and briefs. While briefs for many men were considered too tight, boxers didn’t do much for those wanting more frontal and thigh support. As such, the invention (some might argue the reinvention) of the boxer briefs married together a perfect blend of form, fit and comfort. Whether created for its comfort or its looks, men’s boxer briefs are long in the leg, like boxer shorts, but tighter-fitting, like briefs. Origins of this style make considerations for the form and fit as briefs may have been to Introduced into society in the late 80’s early 90’s, Equally argued, this male underwear is an updated rendition of mid-length briefs from styles introduced in mens wardrobe in the early century.

Boxers

The long lasting boxer shorts, termed after leather-belted trunks (worn by boxers) were redesigned using elastic bands, has been around since 1925. These loose fitting undergarments were adopted and became all the rage mainly due to the elastic waist that held them up. In the past decade, the boxers have had resurgence in the underwear market. Ranging from the traditional plaid designing to bold patterns, boxers have been updated to make more expressional statements. No longer just an undergarment, boxers are used as lounge wear and often shown for everyone to see.

It’s Not All About You

Remember, when shopping for that perfect pair of underwear,.. men,.. it’s not all about you! While form, fit and comfort are all variables to consider, think about your partner who has to endure your daily exposure to them. Perhaps considerations in style and comfort need to be made to incorporate the likes of those you are with. Indeed, the ones you are with may enjoy other underwear styles which you may not be accustomed too. Equally important to updating your wardrobe to replace those old, torn up pairs or undies, keeping up with styles and trends also keeps you fashionable and attractive to those you are with.

Mens Fashion Tips: The Art of Creating Permanent Fashion Styles for Men

Many men and women do not have much idea about Mens Fashion. Very often the advice I have been approached on are what men can wear to appear professional or what men should wear so that they do not look outdated but overtly trendy.

I would greatly suggest understanding the basics of men’s fashion and put this knowledge into a permanent mens fashion style. There would not be anymore worry about following trends but perpetually looking stylish.

The basics of fashion for men boil down to knowing what each piece of apparel is made up of. The fabrics used determine a lot on the quality of the apparel. Good fabrics allow the apparel to withstand wear and tear.

If any men’s clothing or accessories that wear out fast would naturally make it look old and badly cared. This does not reflect well of the men wearing it and easily put most men out of style just by looking shaggy.

The next important point we need to note are the details found in every apparel and accessories. Details can be subtle but it creates a very big impact in the eventual outlook of the styling.

So before we start playing with details, the knowledge of each detail’s responsibility and how it helps in holding up the item or even gives significance to it in style can assist us in choosing the best men’s clothing.

Learning how to coordinate is another tough thing for many men. It does not need to be if they just understand about the various concepts of coordination. Starting from differentiating the type skin complexion they belong to would be the most basic knowledge to acquire.

Then they just need to put on the right color clothing against their complexion that perks up their facial skin tone and brings the attention to their face.

After that, coordinating colors between the various men’s clothing is another method. There are various ways to match different and similar or same hues as well as the shades of hues to achieve the nicest blend of colors.

If they are adventurous, then there are more that they can create that puts two very contrasting colors and yet a harmonious fusion of such colors without looking weird or clownish.

Putting patterns against each other is another challenging task in mens fashion. It is through the play of patterns that can make many men look very trendy and stylish.

If not properly done, those clashing patterns would be a very trying and poorly executed attempt. It boils down in knowing the types of patterns and their scale before choosing how to put them together.

Men can go for two to four similar or different patterns coordination without even looking overdoing the matching. It is fundamental to keep the flow of patterns as natural as possible and create a relaxing look from the combination.

It is good to have an idea of how to put all these mens clothing and accessories together. From there we can develop a permanent styling and never have to worry about the next trend or whether it is unprofessional. At least all aspects of men’s fashion have been touched on. Therefore, if you are daring enough it is always possible to transform it into fashionable styling.

Salwar kameez is a traditional dress worn by both women and men in South and Central part of Asia. It is a traditional dress worn by the Punjabis and the Pakistanis.

Among all the salwar suits Patiyala suits are the best because it is the most trendy and comfortable form of dressing, blending the tradition and modernity. The essence of this salwar kameez lies in its typical salwar design. Patiyala pattern of salwar-kameez was originated in the royal city of Punjab.

The reason can be found in the fact that a lots of cloth is required to make this salwar. It needs about 4.5 meters as compared to 2.25 meters required for salwars of traditional salwar suits. Common man could not afford to get about 7 meters of fabric for making only one salwar suit set. Therefore, it was restricted to the royal and rich families. Patiala salwar with lots of pleats is also referred to as Patiala “Shahi” salwar since it was worn by the shahi (royal) people of Patiala city in state of Punjab.

There is a vast difference between the cutting pattern of the Wedding Salwar suit and the patiyala suit. Its distinguishing characteristic is folds of cloth stitched together that meet at the bottom. The “paijama” or the salwar is is very heavy compared to the common salwar because it consists of numerous folds accumulated around the waist.

Now a days semi patiyala has also come up into style where the circumference is somewhat lesser near the waistline. This was done keeping in mind the comfort related to weight of the salwar. The kurta is a tight fitting, straight cut. The length of the kurta rests few inches above the knee. The sleeves may be of various styles like short sleeves, puff sleeves, 3-quarters and even sleeve less. The glamour more added to the suit is due to the dupatta of the Salwar Kameez, with heavy patch work.

Different bollywood heroines have worn in different movies. In the recent movie “jab we met” acted by kareena kapoor we can see huge range of patiyala suits. Those were beautifully decorated.

The Psychology Of Male Underwear

It’s interesting to know that a male underwear can somewhat be related to the economy of a country. If the economy is down and struggling the industry and sales of men’s underwear is also slow and struggling. It seems like many who are on a budget because of the economy would spend last on their underwear. And this is most especially true for men who are on a budget. Women can’t live without new and pretty underwear but believe it or not men can.

Aside from it being an economic interpreter, male underwear can also be used to sort of understand the personality of your man. It’s sort of a psychology test and could really tell a lot about a man. Some women call it as the underwear personality test and interestingly enough it holds a certain truth in it. Style, color, material and condition of men’s underwear can tell a lot about the owner’s personality. For example a man who is able to wear underwear in girly colors can be considered as the type of man who is in touch with their feminine side.

For those man who loves to wear designer brand for male underwear can be considered as a man that loves luxury. One that truly values himself, extravagant in nature and a man that is into high fashion and the type of man who loves to shop. Since designer brand underwear can be costly, these men who can afford to buy one for them also gives a preview on their spending capacity or spending attitude.

There are also some men who are used to wearing just white underwear. It is popularly known as “tighty whities” and a man who wears one can be considered as conservative. Someone that is not into change and someone who does not want to shop around. They are also usually the practical type of man who just wants the basic things in life. No frills and not so much of an adventurer.

Men who are fond of wearing male underwear that has bold and loud prints with loud colors can be considered as the adventurous type. They are usually the expressive type and one who wants to be heard and be the center of attention. Usually they are laid back and know how to enjoy life and have a little fun. Some men who love to wear cartoon characters for their underwear are usually the funny type of man and one who holds a boyish charm. It is also possible that they are the one the types of man that can’t let go of their childhood fantasy.

Of course there are also other determining factors such as the condition of the male underwear. Then the fabric of the underwear, like if the man prefers silk means he is into extravagant materials. The arrangement of their underwear is also some of the things that you can look at. Are they organized or cluttered? The list could go and its really amazing how you can get to know a man just by their underwear.

Tips To Select A Suit For Your Partner

As all of us are aware the trends in the fashion industry keep constantly changing in the fashion world. Suit styles change as the designers are continually coming up with something new or renewing old styles into different forms again. Picking the right cut of suit for your man could therefore be quite challenging.
You must select for a double-breasted suit if your man is tall and thin. This is a classic suit cut that will make tall and lean men look fabulous. It has two rows of buttons down the front of the coat and a single button inside the left side.

Opt for the classic British suit if your man is more heavily built than others. This classic British suit comes with just a single button row down the front, as opposed to the two rows. This suit will make him appear taller and shrink his width, giving him the much needed illusion of being a little thinner and taller.

Most women favor the Italian suit as it helps their men to look like top corporate bosses. This type of suit is extremely versatile and it fits many different types of bodies. The shoulders are made wider and the waist tapers to make a triangular effect, which creates a powerful impact on the wearer. If you want your man to evoke envy in other women, the Italian suit is the answer.

You will be doing the right thing if you select a standard American suit if his style is casual. The American cut suit is great for hiding body lines, especially if man is obese… The typical cut of an American suit is wider at the shoulders and a bit of a straighter line along the sides.

The contemporary suit is the right one for your man if he is short and stubby. This cut has been especially designed to fit men with less athletic features. It draws the attention to the face with the small lapel, while also thinning the look of the torso. Although it is a very classy-looking suit, it is not uncomfortable to wear.
The physical features and body build of every man is different and therefore all types of suit will not look proper on everyone. For example double-breasted suit will be odd for short and stubby men and more suitable to tall and thin men while single breasted suits are more suitable for men with athletic bodies. There are also other factors that influence the choice of suits such as color of dressing, body type, perfect dressing with occasion and personality etc.

Color also plays an important part in Men’s suit and creates an impact on his personality. Colors can brighten your exposed areas if it goes well with your skin color or make you inconspicuous if not matched properly. While selecting suit for man, it is necessary to check the color goes perfectly with his tone. Black Suit, Navy Suit, Charcoal Suit are generally suitable for many types of skin tone. Selecting fabrics is depends on the work or activity your man is usually engaged in. It is essential that the suits are wrinkle free as too many wrinkles will create a poor impression of your personality. You can also consult some suit designers and reputed tailors of men’s suits regarding which types of suits and pattern will provide your man best look and enhance his personality.
